Jack: Resist.

Not this time, you won't.

The sad truth is, you've tried before, over and over and over again. Not once have you managed to slip through the cracks. You'd need something big — something even bigger than her — as a plan to get yourself out of this enforced retirement.

You are so sick of feeling like a washed up wreck. You'd rather drown yourself in the mop water they make you clean these streets with at this point. Anything to get out of the hellish punishment you face every single day.

The authorities won't break your spirit, though. You've been here for a long time, and you've been through plenty of scrapes. They could keep you shackled to your bucket for the rest of eternity, and you'd still gnaw at the wounded leg of this unjust sentence, full set of teeth in your mouth or no.
